I had a baby 6months ago, towards the last month I got bad groin pains. I thought I'd pulled a muscle in that area but my midwife said it was probably Symphysis pubis dysfunction and I was told to rest and keep my legs together during certain activities. I did this but during labour my legs were wide open on stirrups. Since then I have had pain in my left hip and still in the groin area, especially if I pee hard and fast. I can't carry my baby for long or any form of weight. I've been to my doctor and keep getting told to rest. About a month ago I did carry a lot of laminate flooring up some stairs and now my other hip is hurting too. To top it off my right knee is now in pain, it feels very tight and hurts a lot when walking up stairs. How can I fix dangerous spinning when mounting my horse?

Hi there. I recently adopted a 14 yr old Morgan gelding. He has had extensive training by his previous owner but he was just too spirited for her (she was 54 and never rode previously in her life). If he refused or acted spooky with her on his back, she would simply dismount and walk him home. I was made aware of all of his quirks before purchasing him and warned of his stunts. He is very intelligent and picked up a very dangerous bad habit with his previous owner. I have knocked out a few trail rides with him this week and was quite successful with him once I was able to mount him. Here's the problem: he spins the second I lay the reins across his neck and prepare to mount. It's not a walking off problem or a "little" spin at all! He spins hard and doesn't stop, even when somebody holds him. I've tried mounting against a fence, and that hasn't helped. The only way that I can, is if someone holds him by his bit from the back of their horse. That way he cant spin into the other horse, move forward or spin into me. And if you put a foot in the stirrup and rush to throw your other leg over his back, he's off for the races and at times will buck! He'll do anything to keep you from getting your seat. Now, I've had this horse vetted and had a chiropractor check him over. He had his teeth floated in April. He doesn't do any of this in an indoor arena- he stands perfectly still! I lounge him for fifteen minutes on each side and also try spinning him to disengage his hindquarters before attempting to mount with no success. This only happens before leaving the barn for a trail ride. Out on the road I can dismount and remount without any problems. He really seems to enjoy the rides and leads with excitement, so I'm thinking it's just a real bad habit/ trick that he's learned. Any other suggestions on how to correct this?

adjust your stirrups so that its a comfortable length when you stand completely up in them. then actually stand in your stirrups to get a feel for the weight in them. then kinda sit but not all the way down in your seat til your seat is comfortable along with your feet in the stirrups and you should be good.

My friend recently started doing cocaine-wise to shun him?

A couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine joked that he had started doing crack. When I asked him if he was serious, he laughed it off and told me he was just kidding, but then said that he had really tried it, but only a few times, and later admitted that he was doing it almost every day. A couple of months later, she went and got her first tattoo. I went with her to the tattoo parlor for emotional support, but I still wasn't comfortable with, as much as I tried and claimed to be. Next time you ride, think about keeping your weight in your heels. You can exaggerate it at first. I personally wouldn't use bleach on leather. I have had to clean mold and mildew off of my saddle before. Just use some water on a cloth to get the excess dirt, etc. off. Then just use some saddle soap to finish.That should work just fine, it has for me.If the weedkiller is stubborn you can use some dishwashing soap then a clean wet cloth.Good luck!

I have 6 years of wrestling (150+ matches in high school and middle school), and 2 years of MMA training. Starting the pill on Sunday- what should I expect?

I just started taking birth control and it made my breasts hurt as well as grow a full cup size. I feel like I have gained a little weight too, but not anything terribly noticeable. You also aren't protected until after using the birth control for a month. You should take the birth control daily at the same time. That's what my doctor told me, also the BC should come with a manual that will tell you what to do if you miss a pill or the normal/abnormal symptoms. Am I progressing too slowly?

I have been riding for about 3 1/2 months now. I have went from being able to walk, to being able to canter a small course of x-rails. I have only jumped a few verticals, which were 1 1/2 feet. I can now w/t/c confidently, and w/t without stirrups confidently (I cant canter without stirrups, but I can canter bareback) I can trot and canter over jumps. But I am consistently jumping x-rails, I thought by now most riders would have progressed onto courses of verticals by now? I think i'm progressing too slowly.. I only get 1 lesson a week, maybe I should dig up some cash and get 2 per week? I would love to be able to show 1m+ by next year. Thanks in advance.

Condoms are good but I wouldnt rely on just that. There are also spermacides you can use or a diaphram if your not wanting to use the pill. They also have patches now as well as shots you can do to prevent pregnancy. Ask your OBGYN about it.

How many of you actually ride bareback?

I would prefer to ride in a saddle then bareback. I watch some beginners ride bareback and when they trot or canter, they grip onto the horse and make the horse go faster and then they would fall off. I personally think it's not the right way to teach people how to ride but everyone has there different thoughts :)

How are metal kitchen cabinets attached to wall?

These are all metal except for formica clad doors which were common in the fifties.. I want to remove one section to make headroom there. I removed screws connecting to cabinets on either side. Abnormal pap smear during pregnancy?

I received a call from my ob's office today and I was informed that my pap smear results came out to be abnormal. I'm freaking out because they said they want to test for HPV. The nurse told me that it could either be that or abnormal discharge which I have had abnormal discharge since my pregnancy began. I'm still really scared its HPV. How to start riding my horse bareback?

You really don't have to prep him much. It might be a little interesting for him at first, but if he is sensible he should be quiet. When you want to hop on him bareback, have someone handy to hold him still. Make sure you have a helmet on in case he gets scared. Get a tall mounting block, and just slide on his back. Sit there for a few minutes and let him get used to your weight being concentrated on his back instead of being distributed by a saddle. Have your handler lead him around at a steady walk then boost up to a brisk walk. Once he's comfortable, try a slow trot. He should do just fine. Hope this helps!

I am using the "Fat to Firm: at any age" book to be my guide for getting in shape. The book advises me to start off small in my weights and go up in weight every month (or until I become comfortable with the weight that I am currently on). Just wondering how many females out there actually do this, I know arms is quite common these days but not sure about hands. Nervous about my prenatal bloodwork results?

I would use the edited version, which is a good improvement. Leave out the bit about drums and dirt jumping. Also, keep in mind that it is talking to the managers at local businesses that will get you a job, not the letter. It's not a bad thing to have, it will set you apart from other applicants who walk in empty handed. i'm sexually active, i just finished my period yesterday, and today i noticed i have minimal yellow vaginal discharge. i'm not itchy or having any other symptoms. i was tested for stds about a month ago which came out negative. i had yellow discharge about a month ago which itched and burned a little bit, they checked me for herpes and did not find anything and it turned out to be a bacterial infection.

My husband and I didn't plan our baby, even though she is the best thing that has ever happened to us. I was planning on finishing school before settling down and I was managing a restaurant and going to school when I got pregnant. How do fix this? I'm stuck..?

For starts, quit gripping with your knee. Then tip back from your hips and put as much weight as possible into your stirrups. Get someone to lunge you while you ride around focasing on these three things. Its also likely that you aren't putting your legs in the right position. Ride around in two point (at canter) then when you go back to sitting canter try keep your legs in exactly the same place that they were in two point.

Problem with stirrup/leg when riding western?

When I ride in my western saddle I have a really hard time putting my feet in the stirrups when I first get on. And then the stirrup is like turned in when my feet are in and it hurts my ankle sometimes and then I have a hard time keeping the stirrup itself straight and not turned in. I'm comfortable with basic graphics manipulation, like the software that comes with scanners or MS-paint. The feature-laden Photoshop is intimidating, but I could probably learn it step-by-step. Should I bother with a class?

Can anyone help me with my canter?

I've been for an hour a week for about 4 months now. My problem is the canter, I have the correct leg aids and get horses into the canter, but I'm so inconsistent - a stubborn horse I managed to get into canter fine, but couldn't keep her over poles and then a horse that was ridiculously forward would go into trot perfectly but seemed to be ignoring my canter aids. I also have trouble staying in my stirrups and so find it hard to put my outside leg back and kick with my inside at the same time.. any tips? Because Its really starting to frustrate me.

How do you think I'll do on my first MMA fight?

I have 6 years of wrestling (150+ matches in high school and middle school), and 2 years of MMA training. However my MMA training is mostly submission grappling, and I have competed in 10 grappling tournaments (5 beginner, 5 intermediate). I have a lot of strength and stamina as well, but I am still not comfortable with stand up. My coaches and teammates say my hands have come a long way, but I have never sparred more than 70% intensity, and I am a bit nervous because of that. A properly used condom is still the safest method to prevent STD's and should be pretty safe against pregnancy too. You should go to a family planning clinic and tell them your concerns and what medication you are on.. There are loads of different types of pills and other contraceptives out there that you could use. The condom is still the best against STD's though. Good luck.

Since you've had all those work-ups, they've probably already ruled out spinal problems, like degenerative disc or bulging discs. There is one thing that comes to my mind, that is only diagnosed by surgery....that would be endometriosis. This is a very common condition where uterine contents *back up* into the pelvic area. This causes painful menstrual cramps, along with many other symptoms and the pain is often felt all month long. Ovarian cysts can be visualized by ultrasound, but endometriosis cannot. You should ask your doctor to investigate this. Sometimes the treatment is birth control pills or other hormonal medications...even surgery. Good luck.

Some exercises to strengthen legs for riding?

So I've been not riding much over the winter and i'm just getting back into the swing of riding, what are some exercises to strengthen my legs? I know about riding without stirrups and just plain riding will help, but i cant ride every day (only like 4-5 times a week) and i've noticed cant keep my legs still and they are swinging around at the trot and canter (this didn't used to happen before i took my break from riding), I know this is because i need to get back my lower leg strength, any exercises (out of the saddle) that will help?

I stepped on a (small) lacrosse ball 6 weeks ago and hurt my ankle really badly. It swelled so the outside of my ankle was the size of a baseball, it really hurt to point my toe, and walking was extremely painful. After 2 weeks of playing lacrosse on it, I went to the doctor, and was put in an air cast stirrup for a week and a half. They took xrays and saw no bone damage. After the week and a half I went back to playing lacrosse. The swelling never went completely down and when i stretch my ankle to the side, extending the muscles on the outside, i get a sharp pain on the side of the round bone there. I'm planning on taking 2 weeks off to let it heal, but my question is is there any damage I could have done that will take longer than 2 weeks to heal? Should I go to the doctor again?

Amoxicillan used to treat chlamydia?

If you think you have chlamydia you must go and get tested. Taking all those antibiotics will not treat you. They will just make you build up a tolerance to amoxycillin so it won't work if you actually need it one day. Chlamydia can make you infertile and cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Riding without stirrups?

I'm not exactly sure how this is happening. I do the exact same thing and my reins never get caught in my stirrups. Are you tucking the loop left over underneath the rein between your hand and the bit (sorry i can't think of a better way to say that right now)? The only other thing I can think of is to just take the stirrups off for those ten minutes. It actually makes a big difference (the buckle and stirrups is in your way a lot more than you think) but it is a pain to take them off and put them on....

Best way to slow it all down and regain confidence?

Last thursday, was the first time i cantered my horse to a jump. we have been taking lessons since last fall. i've been riding for 40 years and the horse is an 8 yr old ottb i have owned for 3 years. long and short of it, i misunderstood my instructor, and cantered my horse to a fence before getting a feel for my just shortened stirrups. he cleared that 2 1/2 foot jump by a good extra 3 feet and catapulted me out of the tack. i was hanging in mid air, suspended far above him. through Gods Grace, when he landed it pulled me backinto the tack, but he was galloping off and i almost flipped right off the back of him with my feet flying up over his ears. i then overcompensated and fell forward, hanging from his neck and over his shoulder. he would have smashed my face into the arena wall except for when i sayed whoa, he did and i dismounted, whhile he slowd down and landed on my feet with reins in hand about 2 feet waway from the arena wall. we did finish the lesson with a cnater over a lowered fence, but my consfinence was GONE. today i tried to jog a few baby fewnces but every time we landed he really took off. and was hard to stop. what should we be doing to slow it all down again and get comfortable. the whole lesson was spent on getting him to lengthen his stride and now he seems like he is becoming A SPEED FREAK. He is a heavily raced ottb, whos brother actually won the kentucky derby. i dont want to take another 45$ an hour lesson til i have quelled the fear in me and my horse. how best to do this?

Help on kicking and keeping my heels down?

One of the biggest mistakes people make is forcing their heels down. You are probably concentrating more on that than the actual motion of squeezing your horse. Your feet should be in the position like you would have them if you were standing flat on the ground. Keep the ball of your foot on the iron and keep your heel level, And as it was said in an answer above, squeeze rather than kick.... Also make sure your seat is correct. Your proper control of the horse comes from your position in the saddle. I found that when I was learning I was too busy flapping about everything else that my seat position was wayyyy off!! I had a private lunge lesson and my seat corrected almost instantly. I then found it easier to keep my heels down and kick on. Remember, keep your ankles loose too, you need to feel comfortable, or your horse wont feel it too!!

Any ideas why my feet hurt when I ride?

I ride hunters/jumpers, and I've noticed recently that when I ride, my feet hurt in the stirrups. I think it's a pressure thing perhaps because when I ride bareback or without stirrups it doesn't happen. My boots are old (I'm getting new ones), but I've been riding in the same boots for years and saddle/stirrups for the past two years and the pain has only been recently. My heels are down, and I have not been injured. Does anyone else have experience with this problem, or ideas of how to fix it? Thanks for any and all input :)

I am in serious need of some advice about my issue with other females. Sometimes smacking them in the face when they bite can lead to a negative end and make them want to bite you more because they don't want to get hit. This horse has lost respect for you and you need to gain it back again. All I can say is do tons of ground work. For about ten minutes everyday, have him pivot, back up, turn, figure 8s, stop, and other random stuff to keep him on his toes. Ground work is a great way to form respect and a bond. Reward him when he doesn't good but keep him moving so he isn't able to do bad. Keep a close eye on him and whenever it seems like he's going to nip when your working with him or what not, circle him around before he gets to do so and if he is about to, just push him away so that he'll learn that there is no point cause you don't care what kind of crap he's going to pull. When you go to visit him, do you only ride him? He probably sees you only as an object that makes him work, not something he wasn't to please. Keep the activities you do with him random so he'll look forward to his visits. Take him for walks (yes like a dog) or just sit down and talk to him while he's chilling around so he gets used to your company when he isn't just working.

Your seat is probably fine. It could be the stirrup length and doing the stretching with the stairs might help too. If those things don't help, try getting jointed or flexible irons. They take some of the pressure off of the joints and relieve ankle pain. My instructor uses them because she broke her ankle and says they help with the pain.

I spend like 20 hours on the internet every day during the summer and I never hey out or do anything. none talks to me or even know that I exsist or that I am even around people fryer about me and I wish I had people to talk to. I have a facebook account but when I chat with someone we only say a few sentances to me and leave. I have terrible social skills and I am a introvert and I want to hang out with someone. People are always mean to me and saying mean things to me. I never have anyone to chat to and I don't do anything on the weekends. I spend way to much time by my self and if I hang out in a group of other teens I get uncomfortable to be around them. The internet is my life and I am comfortable to be onthere. Unfair to keep visitation in childs home province?

Think of it this way...what is fair for the child? Continuously changing provinces and having to travel over and over again to see both parents equally? Or having the parent come to see the child? If you want this to be easier on the child, keep visitation rights limited to the province otherwise it'll become hell for that kid while they're young and trying to adapt to everything. If theyre older it's not so bad...but a young child needs some stability in their life to grow up properly. It's never supposed to be about the parents...always the child

What would be the best way to repair my western saddle?

My great grandmother past away only a few years ago, and we planned to make a trip and bring home her old saddle. the saddle has been in my family for many generations, and it has more sentimental value than what its truly worth. I ride all the time, and I would hope to have the saddle for my own if I properly repaired it. Here's the problem- the saddle has had its better days. Its been worn out, its busted, has had its wool liner removed, the leather on the stirrups are torn away leaving the metal exposed, and it has been sitting on the head of a chair for the past 40 years flattening out and collecting dust, and the leather needs oil desperately. I am craving advice. Please help!

They weak light headed feeling could be the result of the cramps. But if you did black out or pass out that's usually not normal and should see your dr. just to get the all ok. As far as treating the cramps motrin works well and the heating pad. If you find that you are in a lot of pain with cramps there are anti iflamatory meds that dr. Can give u to help.

I would assume that she is like millions of other parents in the world who did the best to provide for their families and buy a house, car and basic parenting/living costs which ended in debt and not much to show. Once you realize the full cost of raising a child including shelter, vehicle, clothing, food, activities, birthdays, etc you will find its pretty convenient to use that little card for all these things and watch it build up to an unaffordable price with interest so high you no longer see a point in even trying. It happens. I would leave it alone.

How to stop my horse from rolling while I am on him?

It all comes down to control and breaking bad habits. Your friends advice was correct, when he pauses at the water and starts to show signs of rolling pull back on the reins as a sign of control, then release and spur him slightly just as you would to make him go. If he hesitates spur him a little harder and direct his head with the reins. If he tries to buck again grab the reins and turn his head into his side(horses can not buck when there heads are turned like this) and stay in control until he stops. Then instead of turning back start the entire process of crossing the water again. DO NOT GIVE UP AND TURN AROUND. This will show who is in controll and promote better riding. Hope this helps(:

LOL i used to get aches and pains when i first starteed riding i didnt do any exercises to help it just goes the more you ride thee quicker it will go i used to have lessons 3 times a week at 1 point and i was doing work without stirrups for an hour each time and it used to kill me.

Don't feel bad it happens to everyone I once fell of the same pony twice in one lesson just because she went over a jump funny. you can bet i felt stupid! Most likely everybody will forget about in a couple of days don't stress about it. Your just as good a rider as you were before.

Why does it seem as though my Straight/Hetero friends are ignorant about HIV/STDs and safer sex?

I'm bisexual and I've noticed (as have my other GLBT friends) that our heterosexual/straight friends DO NOT get tested for HIV or other STDs and for the most part do not practice safer sex or get tested with their new partner(s) before deciding not to use condoms or have unsafe sex, why is that? Ok so i am starting a divorce, here is the low down in short. Me and my wife have been married for about 5 years, some good ALOT bad from the start we have had probs, i dont want to put her buisness out there but i have heard of cheating though out the relationship but she always says its not true, she constantly blames me for cheating when i havent. She calls my work (i have a career not just a job at mcdonalds) and i can get into alot of trouble. We have two kids together and we fight in front of them we try not too but it happens they are young under six. This last fight put me over the edge i went out of town for work and i was in a school training well i failed a test so i got upset and drank in my hotel room then passed out my phone died while i was sleeping so she started calling people in my class and the hotel to see if they had cameras to see if i was with a woman (i wasnt) so i wasnt worried about that but the fact that she called other people that i work with asking where i was and if i was with a woman was embarissing for me personally and because these people in the class with me hardly even know me. �Her drinking got tons better over time but when she drinks is when the big fights start. �She has no trust for me at all and i dont trust her, we have went to seek councling many times but it never gets us anywhere. So now i have to move for work to a diffrent state and i told her i wanted a divorce because i cant take it anymore. Heres where it starts to suck! I know i am going to miss my two kids so much. I miss them already and i havent even moved yet just knowing i will be leaving in a week is killing me. �I wont get to see them much at all living in two diffrent states. They are so young. But i cant take the fighting anymore i look at my wife diffrent and everything. Like someone else said, stand on the edge of a stair and push them down helps. I found that pushing my heels down while riding my bike helps too. I ride my bike almost everyday in the summer, so I really got to work on it. The things other people have said are good ideas, too.

My horse riding balance while trotting without stirrups is terrible?

How can I change this. It's starting to annoy me. I haven't particularly got the best confidence in the world doing work with no stirrups as I fell off in early learning to ride and every time I do sitting trot without stirrups going round the corner i nearly fall off. How to get better position/eq over fences?

I have decent eq on the flat but over fences its a 50 50 shot. My horse has trouble juding distances but it doesn't give me and excuse to have a bad position.
