Were any of you REALLY broke when you had your baby?

My husband and I didn't plan our baby, even though she is the best thing that has ever happened to us. I was planning on finishing school before settling down and I was managing a restaurant and going to school when I got pregnant. My husband works for a wafer company and works 12 hour night shifts and only makes 12 dollars an hour...That is currently our only income because we have little to no day care for me to go to work. Plus, we just got slammed with hospital bills and doctors visits since our daughter has had all kinds of issues from birth. We got screwed over by the IRS on our tax return. (The IRS got his dad's and his social numbers mixed up since they have the same name, this mess started about 4 years ago and they still haven't straightened it out. They didn't put the money into our account and didn't tell us, we were in the hospital when she was first born and I paid a few bills online and we ended up over drafting. Still haven't caught up on things. Our second car broke down. We just have SO many bills and we just screwed ourselves by buying a brand new car a few years ago and have a huge car payment on that thing. I am still going to school and I just can't seem to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Any stories about being broke and then being at least comfortable as the years went on? How did you cope with all the stress when you were struggling to make ends meat? I really need some encouragement!
