Why do people wear "slides" with socks?

ok, so like the ADIDAS,NIKE,AIR JORDAN, DC, slides (sandals) with matching color socks (black NIKE slides with black NIKE no show/low cut socks)? Until I tried it I didnt like it and it didnt make sense but now I like how it looks on me but it still doesnt make sense slides with socks. It is more comfortable then just being barefoot though.
