White spots on tonsils but no pain?

I'm currently traveling abroad and for that reason would really like to avoid seeing a doctor as it would be really expensive, but my tonsils have become really swollen and are covered in white spots. at first i thought they were tonsil stones, which i am prone to, but now i am sure that they are not tonsil stones, it's definitely pus. Normally i would consider it a normal case of tonsillitis and wait for it to go away on it's own but what's really weird is i have none of the normal symptoms, i barely feel sick and have no pain in my throat. What could this be? i'm starting to worry it could be an STD from giving oral sex but i'm not sure what STDs would look like this. has anyone experienced anything like this before? As i said seeing a doctor right now would be a huge inconvenience so i only want to do so if i'm sure this isn't just tonsillitis.
