Does partial penetration mean someone is no longer a virgin?

I am the only person that thought that to lose your virginity you need to have full penile penetration? And that if you had partial (like he held his penis so only half the penis went in and did not thrust), even if your hymen had previously broken by fingering you were still a virgin? How could i be so clued up on STDs and stuff and not know the commonly accepted definition of losing your virginity?
