What can someone recommend for intense external vaginal itching?

Not sexually active, in full menopause and have been married for 17 years no sex for almost 7 months due to menopause,, loss of sex drive.!Never in my life have i experienced this bad itching. Really don't want to go to the doctor for this.Any advice? please no nasty comments like STDs This is a serious inquiry Thank you
